URBAN SKETCHING!!!

It's been a long time since I last did one sketching on location!!!
But today is so windy, cold and very sunny... Crazy weather!!!!
Two weeks ago I put some Tibetan prayer flags on my clothes line and I was waiting for the perfect  moment to sketch them or plein air paint them with oils.

It's hard to paint background vegetation  like this. I always avoid it but couldn't do it here!!!
Never mind the overgrown hedge due to the overgrown bramble. The bramble is overgrown because the birds love the berries so much... proof of it? Purple poo everywhere (I know kids humour, oh well).

DAY 1 OF DRAWING A DAY BY THE HOUSE OF ILLUSTRATION

The House of Illustration is challenging us artists to do a drawing a day but the real challenge is the drawings have to fit in a 1 inch by 1 inch square.

This challenge is inspired by the artist John Vernon Lord. In 2006 he did a pen and ink drawing per day in a 1 inch square! His drawings are now in exhibition John Vernon Lord: Illustrating Carroll and Joyce

For more information about this challenge check the following link: http://www.houseofillustration.org.uk/news/latest-news/the-house-of-illustration-drawing-a-day-challenge

My project will be the eyes of 31 animals. Which ones? Everyday I'll choose a one.
For today I've chosen The Yellow-Eyed Penguin (Megadyptes antipodes) only found in New Zeland according the info I found in the internet (no scientist here!)

DAY 1 TILL DAY 4 OF WORLD WATERCOLOR MONTH

I'm so late with this challenge!!! Twenty days late and increasing!

Today I worked on the first four days and it was hard...I'm so used to work on watercolours with supporting materials like fineliners and coloured pencils. Trying to paint and not improving the watercolours with the materials mentioned it's depressing! I did so bad and I'll do more of this bad stuff.
But bare in mind, there's only one way and it's up... hopefully the more I practice the better I'll become. It won't be perfect but maybe I'll not be so embarased!
I followed the art prompt giving by Doodlewash

Day 1: Sunny Days.

Day 2: Delicious Food.

Day 3: Primary Colours. My shame began and never end it! The shadows are awful. Too much water. I've tried to not repete the same mistake but I couldn't shake it! (Rant over!!)

Day 4: Family Moments

The paintings are small between 7.5x5.5cm to 12x7.5cm more or less and I'm painting two per sheet of paper. Like this:
